"LLANVAIR-DISCOED, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Caldicott, county Monmouth, 5 miles S.W. of Chepstow, its post town. It is situated near the forest of Wentwood, and on the road to Usk. The parish includes the hamlet of Dinham, and the remains of Dinham Castle, now a ruin overgrown with wood. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the vicarage of Caerwent, in the diocese of Llandaff. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. Here are extensive remains of Llanvair Castle, built in the 13th century, and consisting of a square and two round towers, blended with a farmhouse. We have a new vicar!! The PCC are delighted to be able to inform you that the Rev Dr William Ingle-Gillis (Will) has been appointed as our new Priest in Charge for our Parish and the other parishes of Caerwent, Newchurch & Shirenewton. Will was ordained in 2004 and is currently the Associate Priest serving in the Rectorial Benefice of Caldicot. He is married to Heidi with two young children, Isaac and Eli, and is looking very much forward to getting involved in our community. Father Will will be officially be our Priest in Charge on September 25 at a ceremony in Caerwent Church starting at 1900hrs. I am sure that you will join me in welcoming him to our Parish and wish him every success in the coming years.
